Blue Agave

On Tuesday, Z and I met up with Jenna, Denise and Don for a dinner out at Blue Agave in Federal Hill. Denise and Don had been once before and highly recommended it.

Both the décor and atmosphere of the restaurant were enjoyable and immediately  put me in the mood for south-of-the-border cuisine. 121 thumb Blue Agave

Margaritas were a must. We split a pitcher of their seasonal specialty: Apple Cider Margarita. It was certainly potent! I enjoyed the sweeter taste the apple brought as opposed to the traditional lime which can be overly tart.

Chips and a trio of salsas were brought out to snack on before dinner. The chips were amazing and while I’m not a big salsa eater these days Denise and Jenna loved it.

For my meal I went with a goat cheese salad. Not necessarily typical Mexican restaurant fare,  but the description sounded delicious:

I rarely cook shrimp so went with that option. The salad that I was served was not what what I had ordered however. Sure it was good, but there were no dried cherries or walnuts to be found. Instead just sunflower seeds. I’m not one to make a fuss over things like that so just went along with it.

The goat cheese was tasty (as it always is) and the dressing was a nice lightly sweet addition.

Z went with an appetizer sampler and the rest ordered burritos and tacos. The reviews were favorable.

Then there was dessert…

Churros with a chocolate dipping sauce and cereal-coated fried ice cream. There wasn’t even time to get a picture. So good!
